Black & Grey Realism
Tone, texture, depth and controlled contrast.
Realism Tattoo Studio · Ho Chi Minh City
Realism tattooing is more than reproducing a reference image. Each project is built around body placement, light, depth, contrast and how the composition will read once the tattoo has healed.
Realism Tattoo Studio works on portrait, Black & Grey, Color Realism and large multi-session projects in Ho Chi Minh City.
Specialist approach
A reference image is only the starting point. Scale, focal point, negative space, light direction and the way the composition follows the body all affect the final result.
The goal is not to place every possible detail into the tattoo. It is to keep the details that create depth, clarity and a strong read at real viewing distance.
Selected work
Realism can be developed through different palettes, materials and visual moods while keeping depth and readability at the centre of the composition.

Tone, texture, depth and controlled contrast.

Color used to separate layers, create focal points and build atmosphere.

Material, surface detail and layered composition.
Fresh & healed
Fresh photographs show the result immediately after tattooing. Healed photographs show a different kind of proof: how color, contrast and transitions settle after the skin has recovered.

This comparison shows the fresh result and the dragon-eye section healed after one month, as part of a larger full-arm project developed across multiple stages.
RT-008 · Case study
RT-008 started with an existing feather tattoo. The old tattoo was covered with a raven and incorporated into a larger full-arm composition.

Existing feather tattoo before the cover-up.

The raven cover-up portion was completed in approximately 3 sessions.

The full-arm project was completed in approximately 11 sessions, connecting multiple subjects into one composition.

The healed photographs allow the overall project to be evaluated after long-term recovery rather than only as a fresh tattoo.

Project planning
Large Realism work often requires a sequence of sessions rather than one isolated appointment. The total plan depends on the size, complexity and defined scope of the project.

If you are travelling to Ho Chi Minh City, include your travel dates when you enquire so the studio can assess what is realistic within your available time.

FAQ
No. Realism can be developed in Black & Grey or color. The choice depends on the subject, composition and direction of the individual project.
There is no fixed number for every project. RT-001, a full outer-leg project, took 15 sessions. RT-023 took 5 sessions for the woman portrait and skull on the upper arm. These are project examples, not universal estimates.
Fresh and healed photographs show different stages. Healed photographs help you evaluate the tattoo after the skin has settled. RT-008 includes a verified healed set photographed two years after the project.
Sometimes, but the existing tattoo needs to be assessed first. RT-008 is one verified example where an old feather tattoo was covered with a raven and integrated into a larger project.
Send your idea, placement, approximate size, reference images and your travel dates. This gives the studio enough context to assess the project before discussing a workable plan.
