Khang develops Realism projects from the client’s story, the structure of the body, and the way light, material, contrast and movement work together in a lasting composition.

Artist philosophy

Understand the story before choosing the image.

When a client sends references, Khang first looks for the story they want the tattoo to carry and whether the proposed imagery contains the right central subject.

The design then develops around the natural flow of the body. In large-scale work, composition across each area, light, texture, contrast and visual impact are considered as parts of one system. The aim is not simply an immediate result, but work shaped by commitment, artistic responsibility and lasting value.

Color / Black & Grey

Color or a Black & Grey value system is selected around the subject, skin and contrast the composition needs.

RT-001 · Full outer leg composition

Khang Truong Color Realism full outer leg project, healed

Building a story at body scale

This project combines a warrior portrait, raven and layered imagery in a Color Realism composition across the full outer leg. The focus is not any isolated detail, but how each area connects, how light guides the eye and how contrast keeps the main subject readable on the body.

For long-term work, Khang plans by body area and reviews the whole composition as it develops so rhythm, material and depth remain coherent.

Looking beyond the fresh-tattoo stage

Fresh work shows initial strength; healed work helps reveal how structure, expression and recognition remain after the skin has settled. Each pair below shows the same verified project at two stages.

Cover-Up authority

The new design must work with what is already there

For cover-up work, Khang begins by assessing the density of the old ink, placement, contrast, surrounding clean skin and the way the whole area moves with the body. The objective is to create a new focal point and a complete composition—not simply place a darker image over what needs to be hidden.

Each project should be assessed from clear photos of the existing tattoo and surrounding body area before a direction is chosen.

International clients

Planning can begin before you arrive in Vietnam

Khang can consult directly in English. International clients may send their project, references and intended placement before travelling to Vietnam, and planning for a multi-session project can begin before the trip.

This early exchange helps establish the subject, body area, approximate scale and practical project direction before an in-person appointment.

Yes. Khang can consult directly in English, and international clients may send their idea, references and placement information before travelling to Vietnam.

Does Khang take large multi-session projects?

Yes. Large work is considered through scale, body area, composition and execution order. Planning can begin before the trip for international clients.
